<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" lang="en-GB">The articles analyses the text of an important lecture held by the distinguished Danish scholar Johan Nicolaj Madvig at a meeting of the Scandinavian Society in Copenhagen in 1844, bearing the title «On the relationship between Scandinavism and universal culture». According to Madvig, every nation needs to develop its own culture in specific given circumstances, while keeping a universal perspective in mind. A true national culture takes its form in this delicate balance between particular and universal.</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Il presente articolo si sofferma ad analizzare il testo di una importante conferenza <span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">tenuta dal grande filologo danese Johan Nicolaj Madvig </span></span>presso la Società Scandinava di Copenaghen nel 1844, con il titolo </span></span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="background: transparent;">«</span></span></span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Sul rapporto tra scandinavismo e cultura universale». Per lo studioso ogni nazione deve sì sviluppare la propria cultura all’interno di date condizioni specifiche, ma senza mai perdere di vista la prospettiva universale. Ed è in questo delicato equilibrio tra particolare ed universale che prende forma la vera cultura nazionale.</span></span></p>

<p>The aim of the paper is intended to examine particularly the <em>Quaestiones Romanae </em>of the humanist Christian Falster, who lived and taught lifelong Latin in the Danish kingdom of the early XVIII century. The book is structured formerly according the system of questions and answers, but the exposition begins to become important when the author is giving more attention for the linguistic phenomena of the Latin language and for their evolution in the works of writers, which in my opinion reveals an anticipation of the German philological and historical studies of the forthcoming century. Interesting is also that Falster is gazing on what it means to analyze the patterns of the Roman civilization (the so-called <em>Realien</em>) by a conception which looks like the actually sociology.</p>
