Archiving and Indexing

The University Library Centre "Roberto Pettorino" follows the procedure of telematic filing in the Magazzini Digitali, a system created by the National Libraries of Florence, Rome and Venice Marciana for the permanent preservation of electronic documents published in Italy and distributed through a computer network. Each article and book is assigned a National Bibliography Number (NBN), useful for long-term preservation.

 All the journals on the SHARE platform are also part of the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) network of the Public Knowledge Project (PKP PLN), which aims to ensure decentralised and distributed preservation, long-term conservation and permanent access to the original version of the journal.

The University Centre for Libraries "Roberto Pettorino" participates in the implementation of a national LOCKSS infrastructure to guarantee journals and serials an additional digital preservation environment distributed among several Italian libraries.
