Prostitution and sexual trafficking –“I am not for sale” Dossier against the proposal of prostitution regu lation in Italy
Abstract
The document deals with whether prostitution is a form of violence against women or a type of job like any other. The authors, through the Italian document they present, analyze the economic, social, legal and health issues of prostitution. Through international and European statistics, they highlight the link between prostitution and trafficking, and the difficulties that countries in which prostitution is legal, have in prosecuting the latter. Finally, they conclude with a review of European laws, focusing on the favourable ones of the Nordic model which recognize prostitution as a form of violence against women, criminalizes the purchase of sex and stops trafficking by supporting prostitutes as victims of violence.Downloads
