Abstract

The articles collected in this section explore the relationships between the economic changes that happened in Carolingian and post-Carolingian Europe, on the one hand, and the management of the royal domain on the other. They contribute to explaining how the management of the royal domain can reflect – and possibly explain – wider changes in the economic patterns of western Europe between the ninth and the early thirteenth centuries.
