On forty years of «Archeologia medievale» in Italy

Abstract
The text makes a review of some of the key interventions published in the recent issue of Archeologia medievale dedicated to the fortieth anniversary of the magazine. In the light of the contribution made by Italian medieval archaeology to the progress of historical studies and archaeological research methodologies, the author discusses some key points for preserving the rate of innovation of the discipline.
