The contribution of the Repertorium Germanicum to historical research on monasteries and collegiate churches in a region: the example of Schleswig-Holstein
Main Article Content
Abstract
Aided by the Klosterbuch of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, expected to appear in 2019, this contribution will present the potential as well as the problems of using the Repertorium Germanicum and the Repertorium Poenitentiariae Germanicum as resource tools. The specific character of the material presented in the Repertorium Germanicum in addition to Repertori- um Germanicum-online operating difficulties – which are being solved –, as well as the current state of research concerning the relationship between the northern regions of Germany and the Roman Curia, which requires improvement, all explain why the Repertorium Germanicum is scarcely used for regional studies. Samples show, however, that the Repertorium Germanicum offers as yet hidden potential for research in the area of Schleswig-Holstein.
