Abstract
A remarkable power of analysis grounded in superb documentary richness is manifested in this book. It is time for work like this in the field of women’s history to make as much material available as possible, to practice extensive interweaving of sources, to formulate as many hypotheses as possible, and to answer the questions that rhythm and animate research on this topic.
