Abstract

The earls from Elci, like other families from Siena, that belonged to the Pannocchieschis’ fraction, were able to preserve and enliven the social and economic relationships during the 14th and part of the 15th century. Such relationships represent the structure of the rural dominion they exerted in the south area of Siena, despite the ‘pressure’ exerted by the city.
