Abstract

This paper is divided in three parts. The first one deals with a historiographical analysis of the institutionalization process of medieval Archaeology, mainly focusing on the incorporation of the discipline into higher education and the universities. The second parts tackles the presence of medieval Archaeology within current curricula, configured after the Bologna Process since 2010. In the last part, and taking into account previous analyses, we will reflect on the future of the discipline and the frames in which we should think future processes of institutionalization in order to transform it into something socially useful.
