Abstract

A green strategy for the South can only start with the recognition of the important role played by greenery in urban settlements and other sectors of the economy and society in the South. The green deal for the south is the occasion for a major green renovation work for the area, favoring the mitigation of seismic, hydrogeological and other environmental risks that limit and very often strongly inhibit the development of good planning practices. Against this, we need quality job opportunities, generated by companies capable of competing, growing and innovating. All this is possible if virtuous processes of promotion and strengthening of networks between business and research are triggered, through the construction of a modern and competitive fabric of technology transfer in compliance with sustainability. This contribution will focus on the urban area of Cosenza. The entire Cosenza urban area has developed along the natural (waterways) and artificial (infrastructures) corridors even if there are some urban planning criticalities: residential settlements without services, large degraded and / or abandoned infrastructures, abandoned areas that would require redevelopment interventions.
