DALLA MALINCONIA ALLA NOIA
UN INCONTRO TRA EMIL CIORAN E FERNANDO PESSOA NELL’“INCHIOSTRO” DI JEAN STAROBINSKI
Abstract
This article aims to build a brief analytical itinerary on two sentiments, which have deeply characterized the culture ofthe West: melancholy and boredom. Starting from Starobinskian critique, this study examines some works by the Romanian thinker, Emil Cioran and by the Portuguese poet, Fernando Pessoa. Thanks to their works, they both havemanaged to rehabilitate these two feelings, passing through nostalgia, and have turned their meaning, since these twoaffective experiences were initially seen as diseases to be eradicated. Through their writing, their ink, it is possible toconceive a completely new and fruitful perspective capable of illuminating the human being (and its condition) which, after Heidegger with the concept of Dasein, lived thrown into the world. They reveal that melancholy and boredom are the abyss from which one can go back and from which one can begin to rebuild one’s world, since without the experience of the abyss, it is hard to reach the awareness of the futility of the existence.
