Abstract

In the late 1980s and the mid-1990s Derrida carried his research to a spectral turn, which has hyperphenomenology as one of its results. The paper examines the main points of this Derridean stage, starting from some short observations on Specters of Marx’s political aspects and analyzing, then, certain dimensions of his “spectral logic.” The paper is particularly focused on the original and complex analyses of the relation between phenomenology and the ghost. In Derrida’s volume, at least two meanings of “hyperphenomenology” can be found: the first destructive, influenced by the metaphysics of presence and the haptocentrism; the second constructive, which refines Husserl’s method through a paradoxical overthrowing. The paper claims that the Derridean spectral turn starts from a phenomenology of the ghost and comes to a ghostification of the phenomenon.
