Language between national identity and European linguistic pluralism
Abstract
Language contributes to forging everyone’s identity, both in its individual and collective meaning and is also a constitutive element of national identity. This concept can be considered a tool for the defense of constitutional sovereignty, but it can also be relevant for the resolution of possible conflicts in the multilevel system. This work deals in particular with linguistic identity by investigating the relationship between language and the European system in which multiple identities (national and cultural) notoriously coexist
