Searching a Voice of her own. Declinations of Writing in Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz
Abstract
Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz is considered as one of the most important figures of the Novohispanic Baroque. In her vast oeuvre, the Tenth Muse of Mexico critically reflected on the role of women in history, on the stereotypes to which they were subjected, and proved to be a convinced defender of woman's right to culture. In this text we propose to follow the writer's life trajectory, focusing on some of the fundamental points to understand her work in prose and verse as a search for a voice of her own, as a Creole and as a woman.
