Abstract

This article analyzes the role and importance of female characters in Julio Cortázar's stories. The basic thesis that we intend to support is that female characters play a fundamental role in this context for the constitution of the global meaning of these stories, becoming in fact a real and the very detonator of fantastic action: placed on the border between rational and irrational, ordinary and extra-ordinary, from them the disturbing element is unleashed which makes every reassuring vision of reality waver.
